This report forms part of the Council's continuous engagement activities on the County Durham Plan. It has been prepared in order to consult on the approach we adopt to planning for energy in the County to 2030. This report:

Provides an outline of the current position in terms of required carbon savings and the scale of renewable energy capacity needed, and proposes new targets for renewable electricity and heat; and sets out when new renewable energy capacity will be required;

indicates how this should be done in terms of meeting identified targets, outlining the key areas of constraint and opportunity; and
-
indicates in broad terms where new development could be located.
