Here you can find out about consultations on the new planning policies which are being prepared as part of the County Durham Plan and give us your views.

Durham City update 

In order to provide an update for Durham City residents on the County Durham Plan and its potential implications for Durham City the planning team undertook a week long information exercise during the week commencing 17 October 2011. Four drop in sessions were organised at venues around Durham City and further detail was provided upon:

  • The proposed Aykley Heads Strategic Employment Site  
  • The three preferred possible green belt deletions (Sniperley, North of Arnison, Sherburn Road) and,
  • The possible routes of the Relief Roads.

We have produced a briefing paper for further information  called "County Durham Plan Update for Durham City Residents October 2011". This is available on the main council County Durham Plan web page.  Following this event a feedback report has now been produced (this can be downloaded below).

Future Consultation 

Following consultation this summer we are now reviewing our timetable for the preparation of the County Durham Plan.

Update on last consultation

Between 23rd May and  the 8thJuly 2011 we consulted on a number of documents as part of our work to prepare the new County Durham Plan. We have processed all comments that were received, and  have published them on the website. You can view the comments for each question in the interactive document. In due course we will prepare and publish a document which sets out our response to the matters raised. The following documents were available for consultation:

Between 3 December 2010 and 11 February 2011 we consulted on a number of documents as part of our work to prepare the new County Durham Plan. All of the comments received on these documents are able to view under each question of the interactive document. How to get involved

Your views are very important to us and are taken into consideration when we prepare all of our new planning documents. You can provide us with your comments in a number of ways including by:

  1. Using this interactive website - to make comments using this website you will need to register your details and then log in. To find out how to use our interactive website please take the site tour and if needed use the help menu (above).

  2. You can also write to us using our FREEPOST PLANNING POLICY address;

  3. Email us using ldfconsultation@durham.gov.uk.

When using the interactive website, while you can view the documents on screen, we will normally ask you to register or log in before being able to comment on a document using this website. To register, please click on the 'Register' link within the 'Login' section. Our site tour (top left) will help you find out more about what you can do on this site. If you need help with using these pages, you can either click on the Help button (top right) which will provide you with detailed guidance on how to use our interactive website. In addition you can contact an planning officer who will also provide guidance, please contact Durham County Council on 0300 123 70 70.

When reading through the documents you will see 'Add - View' comment links against various parts of the documents. To add a comment while logged on, click on the 'Add Comment' tab and enter your comments on the form provided. You can then either save or submit by clicking on the relevant buttons or cancel if you do not want to progress with your representation.
